Transparent Background for Taskpaper

Posted January 24, 2008 by Zack Mahdavi in Taskpaper transparency background

Hi, I just recently purchased Taskpaper through the recent Macheist promo. I had been trying out Things, Omnifocus, and iGTD previously, and I found them to be way too complicated for my tastes. I love the simple text based approach of Taskpaper! Great job!

However, I noticed that I like to keep the Taskpaper document open all the time on my desktop. The problem is that since it is always on my desktop, the wallpaper is always obstructed. It would be nice to be able to set the "alpha" transparency value for the Taskpaper background.

Thanks again for such a wonderful app!

More Transparency Please

Posted November 3, 2007 by ALAMAR in feature request transparency bug report

Hi,

I have used writeroom for a while, and in the dark ages of OS X Tiger I used to couple it with a handy little hack called SetAlphaValue which allowed me to make the entire application transparent.

I have a variety of nice desktop pictures that I have constantly rotating and find it liberating to have a full screen view of them while writing.

The setalphavalue setup was never optimal, as it would make the actual words transparent as well as the writeroom application. this has now become a mute point as setalphavalue and all applications like it have been broken with the upgrade to Leopard...luckily the write room transparency seems to still work fine.

So I thought it prudent to ask that you perhaps add two more transparency sliders to the full screen preferences of WriteRoom.

1 for the text itself, and another for the "page" that writeroom writes on (which is refered to in the preferences screen as the "full screen window".

If I could simply float solid/semi-transparent text over a completely clear view of my desktop wallpaper, or a view which included a semi transparent "page" I would be thrilled enough to buy the application.

Thanks for the program, and you have a great thing going here with the public forums.

A quick bug note, in the leopard beta you have posted I can increase the transparency slider in the full screen preferences to only 0.9, but can select the input field and enter 1.0 which gives me full transparency on the background. Not too pressing an issue, but also not something that someone who hasn't spent the last week hunting down transparency hacks night and day might think to do.

Thanks.

Jeremy
