Feature Request: Rules Engine

Posted June 20, 2008 by msgile in feature request

Taskpaper is a great application, I love that is simply works on formatted text.

Feature Request: Rules Engine

A Rules engine would allow taskpaper users to customize task paper to act for them when editing. Rules could work like mail where each rule has a criteria and then a series of actions. The actions could be taken from the current task paper menu items with some helpful extras added (like "add text", "add to ical")

  • The rules engine would be tiggered by editing a line (or type a new one) and either adding an end of line or leaving the line (the cursor).
  • Rules could work like mail:
    • Each rule has a criteria, and the rules are evaluated sequentually. like 'tag "@due"'
    • Rules can be a series of TP actions, like "add text ?", "move to project"
    • Rules could also be apple scripts

With a rules engine ical integration could be done

  • Rule Example:
    • criteria: has tag "due"
    • action: 'apple script to insert into ical base on date inside "@due($date)"'

Protect Projects from Deletion Please

Posted May 11, 2008 by PeterVk in request

I don't know how it happens (I'm likely at fault), but sometimes a project heading gets deleted and all of the todos from the next project run into the previous. I use TaskPaper to catalogue ideas for long term projects (like post ideas for various blogs) - in other words, I don't 'complete' lots of my projects. Is there a way for me to protect project headings from accidental deletion? Cheers! TaskPaper rocks.

Feature requests

  • Drag and drop rearranging of complete projects, tasks, also collapsing projects (like Sticky notes can collapse themselves)
  • Allow for command+1, command+2 navigation of projects. In short keyboard shortcuts
  • Integration with Leopard data stores (iCal todos)
  • Remove toolbar toggle button from the Preferences window. (The white pill at the right, it's useless)
  • QuickLook plugin for TaskPaper files.
  • URL and attachments support
  • Services menu support to add text to projects, notes
  • Mark complete projects as done.

feature request: reordering tasks

Posted November 7, 2007 by Peter Petto in request taskpaper

I think it would be a great idea to have a command/keychord that would move whatever line your cursor is on up or down in the list.

Having tasks in the "right" order is a good thing.

Thanks.

Leopard Only for 1.1+ (Was: Recognizing URLs and URIs?)

Posted November 4, 2007 by Conrad in request

Are there any plans to make URLs and URIs clickable in TaskPaper? I frequently record web addresses as part of my notes, and I also like to refer to email messages via MailTags-generated URIs. Making them clickable would add a lot for me. At the moment, I'm getting allong by highlighting the URI text and right-clicking it, then selecting Open URL from the contextual menu.
