Printing styles for people who still use paper

Posted June 3, 2008 by pketh

Hi all,

I recently started using taskpaper and I gotta say I love it. One little niggle that I have with it though is that when you print out a document for getting stuff done on the go (Yeah, I still use paper), the font size is like 14 or 12, and what could be fit into a single page, ends up spanning multiple pages because of all the wide spacing as well.

I'd like to ask whether it would be possible to have like an option to print taskpaper documents in a smaller font and using 2 columns automatically (or something like that). As you surely know, what looks best on a computer screen in terms of legibility, is often overkill on paper from a decent printer :)

Let me know how feasible this may be or how the idea sounds, thanks !

(P.S. i'm using the latest development version)

I think I'll try to use themes for this, so that you can create a separate theme that will be used for printing.

oh hey Jesse,

thanks for replying. Yeah that sounds like a good solution, the main thing being that I can apply a theme that only applies to printing I guess.

Thanks!

Another similar tweak: what about an option/theme to not print Archived items?

I have my reasons for keeping archived items in a taskpaper file, but I don't need to print them!

TaskPaper will just print the entries that currently showing in the view. So just set up a named search "No Archive" with the rule:

project name is not "Archive"

And then when you are ready to print choose that search.

That's a useful workaround; thank you.
