Upgrading from 1.0 to 2.0

I am only now checking out 1.0, which looks promising. The impending move to 2.0 makes me a bit nervous for two reasons.

First, using a piece of software like this entails acquiring new habits, so I don't want to make that effort if the move to 2.0 would require me to retrain myself yet again. It's one thing to tinker with features, but I would hope the underlying concept stays the same, so that I only need to learn a few new features without training myself to think about task management differently. I have this concern with Hog Bay in particular, because of the big jump from Hog Bay Notebook, which I could work with, to Mori, which placed more demands on me than were comfortable. Can anyone tell me how the move from 1.0 to 2.0 will feel from a user perspective. I'm interested in the big picture, which I can't get from the features I see discussed in the newest release.

Second, there's always the money issue. If I buy 1.0 now, will I have to pay an upgrade in the near future? Or do you plan to handle this as you did with the move to Mori and and through Mori's various iterations?

I guess I'll invite others (who are trying to 2.0 Development release) to comment on this. 2.0 does have lots of changes, but in my mind they aren't changes that fundementally change the app from version 1.0. At it's core TaskPaper 2.0 remains an enhanced text editor, for editing lists of Tasks. The text format isn't changing. Most of the changes are back end changes that allow for a plain text view on search results, instead of the table view that's used for search results in version 1.0.

Second, there's always the money issue.

Version 2.0 will be a free update for people who've bought version 1.0. Also the price will be going up, so if you do think you want to use TaskPaper (1 or 2), nows a good time to buy.

I don't think TP2 forces a radical change in workflow from TP1, but is really an extension of the basics of TP1. Sure, it looks different, but I can't think of any particular workflow in TP1 that you can't do in TP2 with the same result - that said TP2 will allow you to change some things if you want, like (hopefully) better searching, and easier drag-and-drop task management (among others).
