Greetings.
I just wanted to send a word of encouragement to you guys at Hog Bay Software. As a MacHeist II customer, I received a license for TaskPaper. This was my first experience with Hog Bay - I had never heard you or your products until the bundle, and even then I thought of it as a nice bonus to an already great package. But TaskPaper quickly wedged its way into my daily workflow. In fact, very little crosses my desk or passes through my inbox without a cameo in my todo.taskpaper, which sits in my dock at all times. Plain and simple, I just love it for what it is - no frills to-do management that just stinkin' works.
In completely unrelated circumstances, I decided that I was going to start blogging about a new phase of my life. I mean seriously, not just a casual, careless blog post whenever I feel like it. I'm talking about disciplined, consistent, thoughtful writing. I quickly realized that it would take me FOREVER to write up a well-thought-out blog post, thanks to the tons of distractions on even my rather spartan desktop. By now, I had heard of WriteRoom, but didn't see the point. That is, until now, when the need for it hit me. Even then, I guess I felt like $25 was a bit much to spend on a text editor (coming from a world where Notepad basically met my needs). I started looking for coupons, and actually found one or two ways to save some money on it - I was excited.
But I thought about the people behind the software, and the thoughtfulness put into it. I thought about how much I'm going to be using this software. It sounds cheesy, but I just didn't feel at peace about short-changing the developer. Besides, I've got a little birthday money sitting around, so it's not like I'm scraping the walls of my budget to pay for it.
So, after careful thought, I decided to pay full price for WriteRoom, and I don't regret a penny of it.
